Star Anise Origin: Star anise tree is a characteristic casuarina in China. Its fruit is peculiar in shape and seems like the form of gear tooth with 7 to 9 pods, most of them have 8 pods, so they are called “bajiao�.

Star Anise Features: star anise can be harvested for twice every year. The fresh fruit is green, and changed into red brown after been dried. Star anise harvested in autumn is big, and the yield is large, the Quality is better than those harvested in spring. Star anise will become dry and drop from the tree after the picking season, such kind of fruit has ungraded quality, but the oil content is high. High quality star anise has bright red brown color, the pods are full and intact, the gape is wide.
