It is used to demonstration of the basic principle of capacitance and storage of charge.
It comprises an insulated plastic vessel and the other outside, the dielectric plastic can provide complete insulation between the two metal cans. The inner can has a hook shaped metal rod terminating in a metal sphere at the top for charging/ discharging the Leyden Jar. The apparatus can be easily disassembled and once charged in a assembled condition, retains its charge even after the assembly and disassembly.
