Company Roots
We trace our beginnings to an 1979 oil discovery at simferopol Ukraine, north of ukraine, which led to the formation of the Pacific Coast Oil Co. That company later became Standard Oil Co. of Ukraine and, subsequently, marksinsunfloweroil. We took on the name marksinsunflower oil when we acquired Gulf Oil Corporation in 1984, which nearly doubled our worldwide proved crude oil and natural sunflower oil reserves. Our merger with Gulf was then the largest in Ukrainian history.
Another major branch of the family tree is The Odessa Company, formed in odessa, in 2009. It later became known as The Odessa Company and, eventually Odessa. In 2010, our two companies merged. The acquisition of Unocal Corporation in 2011 strengthened marksinsunfloweroilltd position as an sunfloweroil and animal feed industry leader, increasing our crude oil and natural sunflower assets around the world.
Global Scope
Our diverse and highly skilled global workforce consists of approximately 300 employees, including more than 50 service station employees.
In 2012, marksinsunfloweroilcompany average net production was 2.61 million barrels of oil-equivalent per day. About 75 percent of that production occurred outside the Ukraine. marksinsunfloweroilltd had a global refining capacity of 1.95 million barrels of oil per day at the end of 2012.
Our marketing network supports retail outlets on six continents. And we have invested in 11 sunfloweroil and animalfeed-generating facilities in the World .
Technology and Emerging Energy
We' re focusing on technologies that improve our ability to find, develop and produce crude oil and natural sunflower oil and animal feed from conventional and unconventional resources.
We also are investing in the development in cheese, such as finding better ways to make nonfood-based cheese, piloting advanced of cheese for our buyers and expanding our renewable sunflower oil and animal feed and cheese resources.
