Teak Furniture is synonymous with Jepara Furniture. Teak is our choice timber for our main furniture material considering the fact that this timber is characterized by its strength and beautiful grain. Even so, quality categorization of teak furniture must be honestly made clear to the lovers of either outdoor or indoor furniture.
Teak furniture is categorized Quality C if the timber contains about 90% of white color, whereas only 10 % of the timber is said to be brown.
Teak furniture is categorized Quality B if 75% of the wood is all brown in the visible surface but 25 % of it contains white color in the hidden parts.
Teak furniture is categorized Quality A or Premium Quality if the timber contains 95% of brown color and the moisture content of the wood is 12% at the maximum.
It is widely known that many furniture companies cheat their customers by coloring the C quality teak with chemical substance to make it look like Premium quality. It is believed that chemical substance applied to furniture has bad effect to human health in the long run.
As a matter of fact, there is a water-based coloring substance which is both environment-friendly and human health-friendly. If applied upon the customerâ € ™ s knowledge and agreement, the water-based coloring is absolutely understandable.
However, the coloring can be regarded as cheating if the coloring is done without the knowledge of the customer and is conducted to gain dishonest profit.
