Wayanad Social Service Society ( WSSS) is a leading NGO started working in the most backward villages of Wayanad as early as in the year 1974, i.e. six years back since the Wayanad district was formed. The Society has its Vision stated as â Self reliant and vibrant human communities living in a sustainable environment cherishing human values of love, justice, solidarity and human dignity as well as their equity in the social capital ascertained.â . It concentrates particularly on the small & marginal farmers highlighting the motto, â sustainable developmentâ . The Society is registered as a charitable entity under Indian Societies Act 1860 â Reg No. 94/ 1974. The organisation follows a democratic pattern of 5000 Small & Marginal farmers functioning with a General Body constituted of socially committed personalities and leaders elected from among the farmers representing six regions of Wayanad district. There is also an elected governing body in the organisational structure to execute decisions of the general body and the term of office both the bodies three years. The permanent secretariat and office of WSSS is located at Mananthavady Town. Marketing of Agricultural Products: WSSS has taken upon it the responsibility of giving value addition to all items of agro produces and provide price stability for the farmers. The key strategy and measure adopted in this respect is common pooling of products and value added processing before sale. As already stated elsewhere, the Society has entered into agro processing sector since 2003 with steady progress made ever since and system of demand with trust created. Now We have 8000 Organic Fair-trade certified Farmers In wayanad Disrict Kerala and we have Organic Cerification from Lacon agency and control Union. | ||
