Hockey Skates need to protect your feet as well as propel you around the ice. The inside of the skate is padded with various foams or gel materials. Stiff, hard outer boots will protect your feet better against pucks and sticks and will offer you better ankle support. Most skate boots are made with a combination of leather and synthetic materials for light weight, durability, performance and comfort. The combination of these materials depends on the quality and the cost of the skate. Hockey skate blades are made of stainless steel and have a concave, curved shape. Like other articles of equipment you need to buy skates which fit your style of play.
