Cistanche deserticola is known in China as Rou Cong Rong. According to one Chinese researcher, " Rou Cong Rong" ( Herba Cistanchis) is one of the commonly used drugs in Chinese traditional medicine. It is used to reinforce the vital function of kidney and to influence fertility, leukorrhea and metrorrhagia in women.
Action:
1.Cistanche is used to replenish blood and Kidney-Jin in Chinese Medicine. It is to use for impotence and disturbance of menstruation.
2.Since the characteristic of this herb is warm ( not hot) , blend and sweet, thus it does not give a strong action. That why it has a Chinese name " Cong Rong" means " easy to follow" .
3.There are reports to show Cistanche has effects of increasing saliva secretion, lowering blood pressure and increasing of body weight
