    INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Form a containment dyke around the caustic alkali spill using ALKASORB socks and powder ( if needed) .

Once the spill has been contained, apply the ALKASORB directly onto the contained liquid. The sorbent will initially resist absorption but once the surface of the powder has been wetted, absorption will proceed quickly. No violent reactions, usually associated with the use of a neutralisation agent will occur. Stir until the mixture is dry enough to pick up and no free liquid remains.

Because of me hazardous nature of strong caustic alkalis. only use ALKASORB in emergency situations and only as a temporary measure to control the spread of the caustic liquid. Prior to use, always invoke your emergency response plan ( where applicable) . After use, vacate area and allow your Hazmat team to deal with the spill.

Once the liquid spill is safely contained in the sorbent, a neutralisation agent can be added if needed, to achieve a more neutral pH. The used absorbent must always be disposed of in accordance with local, state or federal guidelines.

Note: This product is not a neutralisation agent but rather an absorbent that allows a safer way of handling incidental and emergency caustic alkali spills- Remember, it is not necessary to achieve a pH of 7.0 for proper disposal. In fact, doing so often subjects employees to undue exposure to hazardous materials that are not necessary for the safe disposal of alkalis.
