Our Story
General_Trading1 Corporation was established in 1990, however the roots of the company date back much further with nearly 50 years of experience in sugar refining, corn wet milling and food ingredient distribution.
Originally started as a distributor of ingredients to the food, beverage and confectionery industries our business has evolved into one of the nationâ s premier manufacturers & distributors. The Sweetener Supply family of products is widely recognized throughout the industry with names like Sur Sweetâ ¢ Invert Syrups, Ambersweetâ ¢ Liquid Sucrose, & UltraClearâ ¢ â Cordial Gradeâ Sucrose.
In 2002, we acquired the Delicious Foods Products Company of Chicago, whose 90 plus year tradition in honey & molasses added to our growing family of products. The Deliciousâ ¢ product line continues to grow with the addition of Deliciousâ ¢ Golden Brown & Dark Brown Sugar as well as Deliciousâ ¢ Powdered Sugar production in our Brookfield, Illinois
In 2008, Sweetener Supply introduced Ridgelandâ ¢ Fiber to our growing family. With the construction of our state of the art Berwyn, Illinois facility, Sweetener Supply became one of the elite manufacturers of powdered cellulose in the world, adding much needed capacity and technical knowledge to the marketplace. In 2012, we added our second powdered cellulose facility in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. This unique ingredient offers a wide range of uses including anti-caking in shredded and grated cheese, dietary fiber enrichment in baked goods, pastas, and pet foods as well as an excellent filter media for water, syrups and beverages.
